I Will Shine

Dear lovely people,

Gina is a star. As a matter of fact, she shines like a star in all she does. Gina has a unique style of finding ways to support others and in the process, gets their time and attention. She progresses in almost all she does because she commits her time and energy to make real connections which is so much more than just exchanging contact information and fading into the background.

She is always seen providing high value, asking the right questions and looking for how she can contribute to people’s success as well. When I asked her what her secret is, she said: “Don’t wait to establish relationships until you need a favor. Build relationships built on mutual support and value from the beginning.” I don’t think there is a better way to have said this, that’s precisely the point.

But then, in the quest for prominence in life, many are those who miss this point and through their actions, prove right the challenging question in Matthew 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

It’s easy to see the shine of a new roof from a distance. But over time, that shine can dull as dust collects on it. In the same way, your actions, thought patterns, mind-set and predispositions can dull your chances of making it big in life and thus blur your shine. Such a life which once sparkled with great plans, excellent dreams and hope can become clouded with miscalculations, lack of focus and an endless trails of failures.

Before you can make it big to the extent of becoming a light to others, take a good look at the processes and happenings in your own life. Has mediocrity, inertia, lack of focus, blind-rocking, gold-digging etc. dulled the evidence of hard work, dedication and love of God in you? Maybe it’s time to stop, take a moment and ask yourself some hard questions such that, you can then submit them to God in prayers. If there are issues you have so identified that are blocking your own progress, clearly write them down and take them to God on bended kneels. Ask God to give you the strength, inspiration and consistency to set an internal self-transformation into motion.
