The Buried Seed

Dear lovely people,

“If we should be blessed by some great reward, such as fame or fortune, it's the fruit of a seed planted by us in the past” says Bodhidharma

What happens when you want to grow crops? You prepare the farm and then you plant (bury) the seeds into the soil right? Has it occurred to you that once buried, the seeds have to undergo momentary difficulties? Near suffocation by the soil, heat and risk being eaten up by insects. When there is adequate moisture in the soil, the seed turn the difficulties to its advantage and overcome them by sprouting up into a beautiful shoot. Get the point, the seed did not say “oh damn it! Because I have been buried, all hope is gone, I will just fold up and die.” No! It knows that even though there will be some suffering, it will eventually grow.

The same thing happens when you dream to become a success in the future. Once you have a goal and start to work for it, you are like a seed that has been planted. Many people will come along with all kinds of discouraging messages and giving you all reasons why you should not try. Many are those who will undercut you, slander you and make life a hell for you. The media will not give you no breathing space, they will constitute a source of discouraging messages, the obstacles are too many to enumerate here that you will be subjected to.

Should you give up? God forbid! One thing will enable you come out successful, you must honestly tell yourself: all these difficulties are just trying to bury me but I am a seed and seeds are meant to grow once buried. Many are the times when the world around you will try to bury you, not realizing that you are a seed. Remind them how great a seed you are, filled with potential then go ahead and prove it to them by sprouting into a beautiful shoot of success.

“Acceptance makes an incredible fertile soil for the seeds of change” - Steve Maraboli
