Dear lovely people,
Before 2004, few Americans had ever heard of
Obama, let alone considered voting for him but in early November 2008, American
politics underwent a historic change. A change that will forever be remembered
as the year an African American - Senator Barack Obama of Illinois was
first elected 44th President of the United States of America. Son of a Kanyan
father who won a scholarship
to study economics at the University of Hawaii, where he met and married Ann
Dunham, a white woman from Kansas. Not only was Obama the first
African-American president, he was also the first to be born outside the
continental United States - Hawaii in 1961.
President
Barack Obama is a clear demonstration of the infinite possibilities latent in what
I call the “mustard seed within.” If nurtured
the right way, it can break all generational difficulties, call them impossibilities
to become a universal success story. If Obama became such a monumental success,
I think every single person has that same potential to be whatever they dream
off. Why?
Deep
within every single person on earth without distinction dwells some infinite dormant
powers and abilities that you never dreamed of possessing. I am talking about powers
that would revolutionize your entire life if awakened and put into synchronized
action. You have to trust me when I say deep inside you are resident
immeasurable, immeasurable and unlimited powers. These powers are
encapsulated inside the “mustard seed
within” you and constitute the seed of all greatness.
Once nurtured and revitalized, the mustard seed within would sprout and lead to an
eternal revolution that could change the entire course of history forever and
put an indelible mark on the sand of times. It happened to Obama. While he was despised
as an unknown and insignificant Illinois African-American senator to be pushed
aside sooner than later, Obama was busy building support at the grassroots
level and using what supporters saw as his natural charisma, unusual life story
and inspiring message of hope and change to draw impressive crowds to his public
appearances, both in the U.S. and on a campaign trip abroad. Unknown to many,
he had planted his mustard seed and was nurturing it every step of the way and
when it sprout on November 4, lines at polling stations around the nation signaled
a historic turnout and resulted in a Democratic victory, with Obama capturing many
Republican strongholds.
The mustard seed within you includes
the untapped potentials, undiscovered gifts, unrefined talents, never thought
about innovation, unimagined ideas, unwritten songs, discoveries of great
value? That Providence has packaged into you to impact our generation and even
those to come whether the people around you approve of them or not.
When
you plant the mustard seed within you on fertile grounds and it sprouts, the
entire human race would know for sure that change has come, impact is in force,
revolution is marching in rank and changing the order of things. It happened in
American, it can happen in your life such that you will take the stage just
like Obam did in Chicago’s Grant Park to acknowledge the historic nature of his
win while reflecting on the serious challenges that my lie ahead.
