The Problem You Should Have With Luck!

Dear lovely people,

Firstly, it’s my belief that there is just no such thing as luck when it comes to pursuing goals in life. The dictionary defines luck as “the things that happen to a person because of chance: the accidental way things happen without being planned, good fortune.” So my question is, what is chance? Have you asked yourself that question? Chance is actually something happening by accident or without design. Think about it. If there is something called chance, that isn’t controlled by God and it causes things to happen, then chance must be a god, too isn’t it? N0! Of course and so you see why there’s no such thing as chance or luck.

Why should I trust in luck when God doesn’t promise us luck? In fact as far as I know, the word luck is not mentioned in the Bible. There are no random or chance happenings with God in control. God has a purpose for this world and there is no event in our lives that is not in some way a part of that plan. God makes it abundantly clear in Romans 8:28-29 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

That said, take a close look at the major difference between luck and success. As far as I am concerned, luck is what happens when you hit a jackpot at the lottery in one move. It happens as you're running to a meeting and the heavy rains start the moment you step into shelter. Or what about when you check-in at the airport and the gates close before the guy behind you? Now that's some luck right there.

Success on the other hand is completely different. It's the result of weeks, months and years of intentional effort and hard work. Success is what happens after many doors close, you hear more "nos" in a day than you'd like and you're almost on the verge of giving up. Success is what happens after years of pulling your heavily loaded wagon to the summit of a rugged hill. It's the feeling of accomplishment you get when you receive a promotion at work or you finally start walking in your purpose.

“Often the difference between a successful man and a failure is not one's better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on his ideas, to take a calculated risk, and to act.” Says Maxwell Maltz
